Think Of The Children of the Day: A movie theater in south London has apologized to parents whose children were inadvertently exposed to horror movie trailers prior to a screening of Puss in Boots.
According to Cineworld’s deputy GM, a trailer for the exorcism movie The Devil Inside shown to the kids was meant to run ahead of Underworld Awakening — the next film scheduled for the same theater.
One parent, Peter Flynn, told The Mirror that his four-year-old daughter “was extremely frightened by what were exceptionally strong images, even by adult standards.” Catherine Walker, another film-goer, called the incident “every parent’s nightmare.”
In addition to The Devil Inside, a trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is also said to have scared the children, though it remained unclear if that was due to “its depiction of a motorcycle rider whose head explodes in flame shooting fire at a devil who is trying to possess a human” or because Nic Cage.
